The Cosmic Dance was the 6th and final CD that Timmy recorded and was the one that he was most proud of. By this point in his life he had the musical skill as well as the technology to make incredibly professionally sounding music. He labored long and hard to get it sounding perfect and there was always something that could be improved upon. I was fortunate to have lived with him during the recording of this album, and I can't count how many times I was woken up at 2 in the morning to loud rhythmic bass and guitar solos echoing off of the walls. Sure it was annoying at the time, but now it is one of those memories that I will treasure forever. You never truly recognize genius until you feel the absence of it. I miss those times the most. He never stopped trying to tweak this album because he wanted it to be perfect. And it shows because this CD sounds amazing, but it also varied from his previous albums. It was released as "The Reck Room presents" instead of "Tim Reck" because it was a compilation instead of a solo act. Friends such as Boyang Matsapola, Adam "Dos" Dosman and Mike "Rez" Domres contributed to the writing as well as the performing of several of the tracks. This signaled a turning point in Tim's musical career because he was willing to let go of what he held so dearly and allowed others to chime in with their own ideas and musical sound. There's even a line in The Ocean Song which says "Everyone can play a tune, it's part of the Cosmic Dance." He even asked me to do some background vocals on a song or two but I didn't want to sully his work. Little did I know that he viewed me as an fellow artist and I wish to this day I would have participated. But by listening to this work of mastery and sharing it with others I am part of the Cosmic Dance as well. So please share this with everyone and you can be a part of it too, just the way that Timmy intended. |
